These beautiful 21mm diameter round matte black jasperware cufflinks, depict a white highly detailed wedgwood cameo of King George IV and The Duke of York. The cufflinks were produced by Stratton.  Stratnoid was founded in 1860 and changed its name to Stratton in 1920 trading as Stratton and as Stratton of Mayfair. Straton manufactured both womens compacts , cigarette cases and  mens jewellery items including tie pins, cufflinks, tie bars and tie chains. Straton brand cufflinks became very popular towards the end of the 1940s.
 
Jasperware is a type of pottery first developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s. It has an unglazed matte "biscuit" finish and is produced in a number of different colours, of which the most common and best known is a pale blue that has become known as "Wedgwood blue". Relief decorations in contrasting colours (typically in white but also in other colours) are characteristic of jasperware, giving a cameo effect. The reliefs are produced in moulds and applied to the ware as sprigs.
